It has become widespread knowledge that continued tobacco use can be harmful to your health. Tobacco use is linked to cancer, cardiovascular disease, and respiratory diseases.

Cardiovascular Diseases:

Tobacco use significantly increases your risk of cardiovascular diseases. This occurs because tobacco use damages blood vessels, raises blood pressure, and increases the risk of blood clots. 

  • Damage to Blood Vessels:

    • Tobacco smoke contains harmful chemicals that damage the lining of blood vessels, making them stiffer and less elastic. 

  • Increased Blood Pressure:

    • Nicotine, which is in tobacco products, causes your blood pressure to rise, putting extra strain on the heart.

  • Increased Blood Clot Risk:

    • Tobacco use increases the risk of blood clots, which can then flow to the heart and brain, leading to heart attack or stroke. 

Respiratory Diseases:

The toxins and carcinogens in tobacco smoke are linked to respiratory diseases because they damage your airways and the air sacs in your lungs. Smoking can trigger COPD, asthma, and other respiratory diseases.
